Database Development and Administration

The database is where most “application” problems actually live. I design and build database-backed systems — and keep them running — deepest in Oracle, and across PostgreSQL and cloud platforms.

What I do:

• Database and data-model design for new systems, plus back-end PL/SQL development
• ETL and data warehouse architecture — design, build, and modernization (Oracle, PostgreSQL, cloud)
• Migrations, upgrades, and end-of-life transitions
• Ongoing administration: AWR/ASH analysis, tuning, archiving, retention, and space reclamation
• Production issue diagnosis across the database, data, and application layers

Recent result: stood up a PostgreSQL (Aurora) data warehouse on AWS and converted batch ETL to incremental loads to support hourly dashboards.
